Recognition of Prior Learning

The Catering industry introduced the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism for Chinese Cuisine on January 7, 2013, with the aim of recognising the work experience and competencies accumulated by practitioners in the workplace, enabling them obtain recognised qualifications within the Qualification Framework. Starting from January 7, 2023, the Catering industry has introduced 15 sets of UoC clusters corresponding to Western Cuisine. The VTC has been appointed as the assessment agency. Currently, a total of 58 industry qualifications are available for application by catering practitioners in both Chinese and Western Cuisines, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4.
