Vocational Qualifications Pathway (VQP)

VQP serves as a roadmap for progression in learning and employment within the major areas of the industry. Learners or practitioners can progress at various levels through acquisition of required VQP qualifications by pursuing VQP courses or through assessment.

Jewellery ITAC will develop VQP for the industry soon. Here are some examples of job roles under the following areas for reference of practitioners in the Jewellery industry: 

  • Marketing and Promotion
  • Sales

Education & training providers are encouraged to design SCS-based courses which are matched with the requirements of the job roles, or as specified by the industry.

Specification of Competency Standards (SCS)

SCS comprises the key competency standards required for the present operations and future developments of the industry.

Jewellery ITAC has formulated the SCS in 2008 and updated in 2019 to meet the industry needs.  It consists of 209 Units of Competency (UoCs) which cover 10 major functional areas at various levels. 

Training Packages

Using selected units of competency (UoCs) which correspond with a job role in the industry, an SCS-based Training Package outlines the essential elements for a learning programme, offering for reference the contents of learning, assessment guidelines, as well as supporting and reference materials. 

Jewellery ITAC has developed 2 sets of SCS-based training packages to encourage enterprises and education and training providers to developcourses more closely aligned with the needs of industry.
