QF Promotion Day for the Chinese Catering Industry

A QF Promotion Day hosted by the Chinese Catering Qualifications Framework Advisory Committee (ITAC) was held at Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre on 12 May 2009. Around 150 industry practitioners participated in the function. The Hon Tommy CHEUNG Yu-yan, SBS, JP, the LegCo representative of the Catering sector, also attended the event and gave an opening speech to support QF development for the sector. Mr. YEUNG Wai-sing, the Chinese Catering ITAC Chairman, announced that QF implementation in the Chinese Catering industry had reached a new milestone. The major tasks ahead are to motivate training providers and catering enterprises to develop SCS-based programmes and put in place a "Recognition of Prior Learning" mechanism for the industry.
