The Competency standards are expressed in the form of Units of Competency (UoCs). The Security Services SCS consists 237 unique Uocs, which are distributed across 8 functional areas at QF levels 1 to 7. Since some UoCs may apply across multiple functional areas, the table below shows that there are a total of 253 UoCs covered in the Security Services SCS.

SCS-based / SGC-based Course

SCS-based/SGC-based courses refer to education and training courses that adopt the SCSs or Specifications of Generic (Foundation) Competencies (SGCs) as the main basis for curriculum design. The contents and learning outcomes have to meet the performance requirements as set out in the relevant UoCs under the SCS/SGC. Furthermore, the structure and design of SCS-based/SGC-based courses are governed by the principles stipulated under the Qualifications Guidelines issued by the Education Bureau.

Please visit Qualifications Register (QR) to search SCS-based courses for the Security Services industry.

SCS-based Training Packages

Using selected units of competency (UoCs) which correspond with a job role in the industry, an SCS-based Training Package outlines the essential elements for a learning programme, offering for reference the contents of learning, assessment guidelines, as well as supporting and reference materials.

Retail ITAC has developed 3 sets of SCS-based training packages to encourage enterprises and education and training providers to developcourses more closely aligned with the needs of industry.
