Consultation on the draft SCS for the Manufacturing Technology Industry

The Manufacturing Technology (Tooling, Metals & Plastics) ITAC hosted an industry consultation session on the Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) at Conference Hall, Central Government Offices, Tamar on 17 July 2014 (Thursday). Besides introducing the SCS and consultation details for the Manufacturing Technology (Tooling, Metals & Plastics) industry by the representative of the professional writer team, Mr Bernard LAU Chi-wai, Convenor of SCS Drafting Subcommittee shared with participants his experience in SCS development and its applications. Guest speakers from Manufacturing Technology (Tooling, Metals & Plastics) industry which included Mr Albert CHOW Hing-pong, Director of Qualifications of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Mr Vincent KONG Hon-po, Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Diecasting and Foundry Association as well as Mr NG Ping-hong, Chairman of Hong Kong & Kowloon Rubber & Plastic Workers General Union were invited to share their views on the topic: "Opportunities and Challenges for Practitioners of the Manufacturing Technology Industry". Around 100 representatives from employers, human resources departments, as well as professional institutions participated in the consultation session.
