Vocational Qualifications Pathway (VQP)

VQP serves as a roadmap for progression in learning and employment within the major areas of the industry. Learners or practitioners can progress at various levels through acquisition of required VQP qualifications by pursuing VQP courses or through assessment.

Fashion ITAC has drafted eleven progression pathways covering the following major job functions of the industry, and will enrich the content of VQP for the industry soon.

  • Design
  • Laundry Services
  • Material Development
  • Merchandising and Material Procurement
  • Product Development
  • Production Planning and Control
  • Quality System and Sustainability
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Technical Support

Education & training providers are encouraged to design SCS-based courses which are matched with the requirements of the job roles, or as specified by the industry.

Specification of Competency Standards (SCS)

SCS comprises the key competency standards required for the present operations and future developments of the industry.

Fashion ITAC has completed the update of SCS (Version 2) in 2021, which covered 11 functional areas of the industry.  There are altogether 374 Units of Competency (UoCs) at QF levels 1 to 7. Subsequent to the revision of VQP soon, the SCS will be further updated to cope with the recent development of the industry.

Training Packages

Using selected units of competency (UoCs) which correspond with a job role in the industry, an SCS-based Training Package outlines the essential elements for a learning programme, offering for reference the contents of learning, assessment guidelines, as well as supporting and reference materials.

Fashion ITAC will explore the need of developing SCS-based training packages to encourage enterprises and education and training providers to develop courses more closely aligned with the needs of industry.
