Consultation and Sharing Session for the Draft Specification of Competency Standards for Travel Industry

A Consultation and Sharing Session on the draft Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) for Travel industry hosted by the Travel Industry Training Advisory Committee (ITAC) and the Qualifications Framework Secretariat was held on 24 September 2021 to gauge views from different stakeholders on the draft. The Chairman of the Travel ITAC, Mr Andrew LEUNG, JP, gave the welcoming remark to all the participants joined the session in-person and online, followed by a brief introduction on the uses of SCS delivered by the Convenor of the SCS-drafting Sub-committee, Mr Perry YIU Pak-leung, MH, and a presentation on the content of the draft SCS and Vocational Qualifications Pathway (VQP) for Travel industry by the professional writer. To raise the understanding on application of SCS in human resources development, two guest speakers from Catering and Jewellery industries were invited to share their experience on establishing structural internal training system based on the QF platform and developing SCS-based programmes for building up skillsets of their staff in the sharing session. The guest speakers were Mr Wallace LI, Head of Food & Beverage Operations (Racecourses & Special Projects), The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Mr Terrence LAI, Training Manager of the Lukfook Group. The meaningful exchange on the applications of QF and SCS in human resources management aspects gave insights to the participants of Travel industry for their future planning.
